The administration of the City of Malmö is split into ten city districts: Centrum, Fosie, Husie, Hyllie, Kirseberg, Limhamn-Bunkeflo, Oxie, Rosengård, Södra Innerstaden and Västra Innerstaden. The purpose is to develop and strengthen local democracy, thereby increasing the citizens' opportunities to influence conditions within their own area. The political commission of the City Planning Office is to be responsible for tasks that are incumbent upon the municipality in accordance with the Swedish Planning and Building Act. The administration is responsible for structure planning, detailed planning, land parcelling, building permission, building notification, measurement, mapping and services to Malmö residents and the parties on the housing market.
The Culture Department consists of eight institutions: Malmö Konsthall (Art Gallery), Malmö Konstmuseum (Art Museum), Malmö Kulturmiljö (Heritage), Malmö Kulturskola (School of Culture), Malmö Kulturstöd (Cultural Grants), Malmö Museer (Museums), Stadsarkivet (City Archive), Stadsbiblioteket (City Library), and the Culture administration's overriding management. The co-ordination of the “culture block" Kulturhuset Mazetti is also organized by the Culture Department. The Culture Department employs archaeologists, librarians, drama teachers, administrators, curators, art historians, cultural affairs secretaries, music teachers, art teachers, museum teachers, public relations professionals and many others.
The Education Department is responsible for the City of Malmö's upper secondary schools and adult education. In addition, it also covers a number of other operations — Ethnic Relations, Infotech, Work Placement Service, Pedagogical Centre, Resource Centre for Diversity in Education, Ung i Sommar [Young in Summer], Youth Facilitators, Uppdrag Malmö [Mission Malmö] and the Validation Centre. To provide education in accordance with your individual needs, provide young people and adults with high quality education and a wide and varied range of courses, provide students with options to build up their curriculum themselves by choosing their own courses and pace of study and provide information and guidance on all of the education options available — and finally, create a good, creative learning environment.
The Streets and Parks Department is responsible for managing, developing and renewing the urban environment in Malmö.We are responsible for ensuring that streets and meeting places, parks and beaches are attractive and safe. We stimulate street life in the city with events all year round. We strive to provide a safe, user-friendly and environmentally-sound traffic environment. Just as important as new construction is taking care of what we already have. That means everything from park upkeep, street paving, traffic signals and playground safety to car parks, lighting and permits for market stalls and outdoor cafés.We want a clean and well-kept city, in which our public areas are well used. Board and its administration, the Environment Department, have a large operational area with one common denominator: the environment in Malmö. Through supervision and monitoring of everything from the handling of provisions and water to air pollution, noise and environmentally dangerous operations, it work to prevent injuries to people's health and damage to the environment. It also take environmental interests into consideration in social planning and carry out projects for sustainable development in the municipality. The Leisure, Recreation and Sport Administration is the municipality's central administration for leisure issues. The administration works to ensure Malmö maintains and develops its qualities as an attractive city for leisure, where everybody has the opportunity for meaningful leisure activities. It strive to provide a richly varied range of leisure activities in all parts of the municipality. The activities are aimed at all inhabitants of the municipality, but activities aimed at young people are prioritized. The opportunities for leisure activities of people with disabilities, pensioners and immigrants also receive special notice. As far as possible, the activities shall be run by the inhabitants themselves, preferably in the form of non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

The elected auditors and the lay auditors for the companies have been assigned by the city council to review and check whether activities are being conducted in a suitable and economically satisfactory manner the accounts are correct the internal checks performed by the committees are sufficient. The working method must be future-oriented and supportive towards the activities. The principal aim of this review is to provide the city council with documentation for the annual liability investigation. Every municipality shall have a chief guardian function. In Malmö, we have chosen to have a Chief Guardian Committee, whose members are elected by the municipal council evry four years. The task of the Chief Guardian Committee is to assist in the selection/proposal of suitable persons to act as trustees or administrators. It also provides support and training, and monitors trustees, administrators and guardians.
