Conchita Wurst (AT)

With the song 'Rise Like a Phoenix', artist Conchita Wurst won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014. The win was historic and is now considered iconic for the LGBTQIA+ community worldwide.

'Go about your business. Act as if you're free. No one could have witnessed. What you did to me [...] Rise Like a Phoenix'. With these words, musician, fashion icon and human rights activist Conchita Wurst took first place in the Eurovision Song Contest ten years ago with the song 'Rise Like a Phoenix'. The win was historic and is now considered iconic for LGBTQIA+ representation, which was not least noticeable in the aftermath of the music competition, where the artist repeatedly defended and stood up for the community.

Since winning, Tom Neuwirth (Conchita Wurst) from Austria has toured the world, released three albums, hosted TV programmes and used his platform to fight for socio-political issues. He has immersed himself in songwriting, regularly releasing new songs with accompanying pop music videos. And now he is coming to Malmö and Eurovision Village to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his Eurovision Song Contest win.

We can't wait to see Conchita light up the city and ignite the fires of hope in the visitors' minds.
