Climate Cooperation between Malmö and Copenhagen
Malmö and Copenhagen are strongly linked through common policies, economic ties, cultural similarities and a physical link via the Öresund´s Bridge.
The two cities prioritize renewable energy, effective urban planning, sustainable mobility such as publi
c transport and biking, whilst engaging various stakeholders including academia and the public.
Malmö and Copenhagen, together with neighbouring urban communities in the Öresund Region, place a high value on transnational cooperation, and have created the Öresund´s Protocol in order to concrete partnership in the transnational region.
Presently actors from both Danish and Swedish localities in the Öresund are developing the word´s first transnational climate region, and drafting a ‘Climate Protocol´. Malmö and Copenhagen are also signatories of the EU´s climate initiative, ‘The Covenant of Mayors´ which has provided incentive for the development of the regional protocol.
