As You See – Harun Farocki
23 March - 5 May 2013
The exhibition at Malmö Art Museum presented both old and new films produced by the legendary filmmaker whose work has only been shown occasionally in the Malmö- and Copenhagen region. Harun Farocki is one of Germany's most important film makers within experimental film.
The exhibition centered on his large-scale installation Workers Leaving the Factory in Eleven Decades from 2006. Taking the first 45 seconds of film history as his point of departure, Farocki constructs a fascinating journey through the twentieth century to our own days.
But the exhibition at Malmö Art Museum also presented a number of both older and recently produced films. Among them Farocki's film installation Parallel (2012) which takes up the ability of the digitally produced image to simulate reality in the form of video games and was here shown in Sweden for the first time.
The exhibition was a collaborative venture of Mats Stjernstedt, Kunstnerernes Hus, Oslo , André Zivanari, Point Centre of Contemorary Art, Nicosia and Harun Farocki Filmproduktion, Berlin/Munich.
