Literary Fragments: Aaiún Nin (eng)
Literary fragments is a three-part series of readings and conversations at the crosssection of visual art, poetry and prose. In collaboration with Malmö Libraries.
These events are part of the public programme for the exhibition (in)visible which is currently showing at the Malmö Art Museum until the 9th of January 2022. The curatorial approach of the exhibition attempts to provide glimpses into expressions of queerness, leaving room for a multiplicity of interpretations. Literary Fragments follows suit and takes from a depository of infinite narratives and experiences.
We are honoured to conclude Literary Fragments with the beautiful presence of poet, artist and activist Aaiún Nin and Copenhagen-based art historian Nina Cramer at the Malmö City Library. Nin will read their poetry and afterwards be joined in conversation by Nina Cramer.
Nin’s grasp of language and their use of the sentence to evoke queer desire, belonging, protest, has carved space for them as a writer to spend time with. Working with words as their main medium, and having a visual art practice, they profoundly interrogate multiple worlds at the same time.
Aaiún Nin's poetry collection På min huds sorthed (On The Blackness Of My Skin) was published in Denmark in August 2021 to much critical acclaim. Their international debut, Broken Halves of a Milky Sun, has already been garnering praise and comes out early next year in various translations;
"With the emotional undertow of Ocean Vuong and the astute political observations of Natalie Diaz, a powerful poetry debut exploring the effects of racism, war and colonialism, queer love and desire."
The reading will be followed by a conversation between the author and Copenhagen based art historian and researcher Nica Cramer.
The events are free of charge and no registration is required.
