Malmö Innovation Platform

Malmö Innovation Platform

The Malmö Innovation Platform brings together creative forces in business, academia and the community to build a joint innovation capacity in renovation of existing apartment buildings in South-East Malmö. The aim is to use physical regeneration as a motor for socio-economic development, long-term environmental goals and business opportunities.

Over the past 15 years, Malmö has actively worked to address major societal challenges that the city faces to create the conditions for all aspects of a sustainable city. This has generated a number of major and smaller projects which have tested innovative solutions and where the impetus has come from the city, citizens, businesses, associations and academia.

During 2013-2015, the Malmö Innovation Platform joins key players in a partnership to focus on the development of existing apartment buildings in South-East Malmö. The work includes piloting and developing new technologies, new services, business concepts and local jobs. At the same time, the project will lead to organizational development and better collaboration. The project will also attract expertise from around the world to Malmö and contribute to development in other cities.

The project is led by the City of Malmö, Environment Department in close cooperation with Lund University, Malmö University, the Swedish University for Agricultural Sciences in Alnarp, Media Evolution, EoN, MKB and Region Skåne. Another 13 partners from industry are included in the project. The Malmö Innovation Platform is financed by Vinnova.
