Do you say hello to your neighbors?
By having a connection with the people who live in our area or building, we can act more quickly together if something happens.
Here, we’ll collect stories from Malmö residents about community and how everything can start with a simple hello. Share your story about how you and your neighbors got to know each other. Your tips can help others do the same.

Get prepared
Preparedness means being ready in case something unexpected happens, like a prolonged power outage or the phone network going down.
If something happens, it’s often those closest to us who help first. It’s not always family – but those who happen to be nearby. Maybe you’ve been the one who helped?

”Get to know your neighbors—they are your community when a crisis happens.”
– Malmö resident

Why ”säg hej”?
"Säg hej!" (which means "Say hello!") is part of the City of Malmö’s preparedness work. The campaign is Malmö’s contribution to Sweden’s annual Preparedness Week.
”Säg hej!” is about encouraging Malmö residents to strengthen relationships with those who live nearby, like neighbors. The more people are prepared, the better we can handle unexpected events. That’s how we build a stronger Malmö.
