Revolutionary stage design with a focus on the audience for ESC in Malmö

When millions of TV viewers and tens of thousands in the audience turn their eyes to Malmö in May, they will encounter a unique 360-degree experience in the Malmö Arena.

A significant reason for choosing Malmö as the host city for the Eurovision Song Contest is that the city boasts a modern and flexible arena with vast creative and technical possibilities. What the audience will experience in the Malmö edition of the competition and the show is something entirely new.

The stage will be placed in the midst of the audience, and, combined with the lighting design, it puts the audience more in focus than ever before.

"We haven't seen anything like this before in Eurovision, and the concept gives us endless possibilities to create unique spaces and expressions for both the competing artists and opening and interval acts," says Ebba Adielsson, Executive Producer at Swedish Television.

The starting point is a monumental installation of video and light, centered above the stage, where the lighting design is crafted to embrace the artists and their performances. Together, these elements allow for the creation of a large number of unique looks for the various performances, bringing both live and TV audiences closer to the action.
