Our commitment to sustainability is ambitious, with over 100 measures implemented across every aspect of the event. From large-scale logistics to the smallest details, our sustainability policy guides our actions. Moving forward, we will closely monitor the outcomes of our sustainability initiatives, ensuring that our efforts leave a long-lasting legacy.
As we pave the way for future host cities and competitions, we recognize the importance of sharing our experiences and learning from others. Together, we can build a more sustainable future for Malmö and beyond.
Some of the things we do for environmental sustainability:
- We minimize purchases by borrowing, renting, recycling, and sharing materials such as decorations, stage items, technical supplies and clothing.
- We facilitate sustainable mobility solutions and encourage walking, biking, and traveling with Malmö’s fossil free public transports.
- We serve vegetarian, climate smart and eco-friendly meals that create taste memories.
- We take measures to reduce food waste.
- We provide tap water to our visitors and never buy or sell still water on bottle.
- We minimize waste by avoiding single use materials. We make sure that non-avoidable waste is recycled correctly.
- We prioritize the use of LED lighting, energy-saving technologies, responsible energy management and renewable energy sources at our event venues.
Some of the things we do for social sustainability:
- We implement an inclusive and open programme that is accessible for everyone.
- We promote fair trade practices.
- We collaborate with local organizations to stimulate the local economy.
- We have a zero tolerance against discrimination and educate our co-workers to foster a culture of tolerance, respect and understanding.
