ICLEI and Malmö Commitment

The Malmö Commitment is a pledge by the signatory cities to work toward promoting equitable sustainable development with people at the center. The Malmö Commitment emphasizes social justice as a key component of local sustainable development. The goal is for cities affiliated with the Malmö Commitment to have implemented a series of development processes toward a more equal and just society by 2030.

Through its involvement in ICLEI and the Malmö Commitment initiative, the City of Malmö has a significant opportunity to further strengthen Malmö’s global position as a pioneer in sustainable development and to set the agenda for strategic global issues regarding cities and regions work on long-term sustainable development.
