Harbour Energy Tank (Hamnens Energitank)

Place where the Harbour Energy Tank is planned to be placed.

During the spring of 2024, E.ON, in collaboration with the City of Malmö, invited expressions of interest for an architectural design competition for the Harbour Energy Tank (HET) in Malmö. Deadline for submission of expressions of interest were, March 1, 2024.

Malmö’s skyline tells the story of the city’s shifting values and identity over time: from Sankt Petri church to municipal infrastructure such as Södervärns water tower, and from the industrial structures of Malmö’s harbour to more recent residential towers including Turning Torso.

Malmö has a history of iconic industrial infrastructure, and the construction of the HET tank is viewed as a continuation of this legacy. The 70m tall tower will be visible across Malmö and beyond. It will become part of the city's silhouette and an identity shaping landmark in the flat Scanian landscape and along the coast of the Öresund.

Hamnens Energitank in Malmö is a significant opportunity to add to a new chapter that expresses both the city and E.ON’s commitment to lead the climate transition. Malmö sets a high ambition for the global climate. The installation of the tank will contribute to lowering the city’s climate impact.
