We increase awareness of the limitations of artistic freedom in the world, in Sweden but also in our own everyday lives. Welcome to a week of forbidden culture and artistic freedom!
Forbidden Culture Week in Malmö
During the Forbidden Culture Week Around Malmö, forbidden story times, tours of censored art and exhibitions about forbidden culture are offered. Schools are offered a wide range of programmes through the cultural right of public access.
Public Opening and Community Engagement
Forbidden Culture Week starts with a public opening at Inkonst and throughout the week Malmö residents are welcomed to take part in and engage in the program. All events arranged by the City of Malmö's operations are free of charge and public.
Collaborators and Initiator
Banned Culture Week is a collaboration between the cultural administration in the City of Malmö and includes banned literature, performing arts, films, exhibitions and lectures. Moderna Museet, Public Art Agency Sweden, independent cultural organisations and other cultural practitioners also take part in the week.
