About the exhibition
Malmö is a city that is constantly changing. The city is growing and becoming more densely built, while people move in and out and bring Malmö’s many places to life. But how does the process of planning the city’s future actually work?
This exhibition invites you to learn more about the democratic process behind urban planning and how you can take part in it. At the heart of the exhibition is a nine-square-meter model of Malmö, showing what the city looks like today and highlighting some of the areas where future development is planned. The model is 3D-printed in smaller sections that can be updated and replaced as the city changes.
The exhibition also explores how dialogue, participation and shared responsibility can help create a more equal and sustainable city. It presents examples from the City of Malmö’s work with comprehensive planning and methods for involving residents, alongside Urban Academy’s perspectives on democratic processes and co-creation in the built environment.
Together, these different perspectives show that urban development is not only about buildings and places. It is also about the people who live in, use and shape the city.
