The game industry in Malmö is growing rapidly and stands out both nationally and internationally as a creative city with a strong game developer community, a large number of game studios and talent with roots all over the world.

Quick facts

  • The game industry in Sweden has a total turnover of 86.5 billion SEK, an increase of as much as 47 percent compared to the previous year (Computer game industry, 2022).
  • Malmö went from 74 game companies to 79 in 2022. There are over 1,500 employees in Skåne and Blekinge, and many of them are based in Malmö.
  • Malmö had a 15 percent growth in number of employees in the games industry between 2011-2021, and the industry is expected to grow at a similar rate until 2030 (Game Habitat).
