Creative, unpretentious Malmö
In Malmö, people support each other, collaborate, and establish gathering spots. Victoria Peterson Henry is one of Malmö's numerous inspiring creative entrepreneurs.

Victoria Peterson Henry runs the interior design shop Veya Studio and the clothing brand Henry Rude, where interior design, craftsmanship, and garments are characterized by colorful and rich patterns.
"My business would have looked different if I had lived in any other city. I identify with Malmö and I’m inspired by the city. People lift each other, collaborate, and the city has many creators who create meeting places."
She believes the openness to new ideas makes it easy to test new business ideas, as well as to develop through collaboration with other businesses in the city.
In addition, the cultural and creative industries are the largest in Malmö. Here, smart upstarts are mixed with driven small businesses and well-known brands. In Malmö alone, 837 design companies are growing like crazy. Some of the more well-known brands range from global brands such as String Furniture and Atelier Lisa Hilland to fashion companies such as Pampas and Trés Bien.
Between 2018 and 2022, the turnover of design companies that are limited increased by 50 percent, not including the film industry or the computer games industry in Malmö. The computer games industry in Malmö is growing rapidly and stands out both nationally and internationally as creative with a strong game developer community, many game studios, and talent with roots from all over the world.
The city has a long tradition and reputation in all aspects of design. Malmö's design industry is creative, and growth-oriented and creates design solutions, branding, and global brands.
The city also has innovative environments that make it easy to meet industry colleagues or start new collaborations. These include STPLN: LAB, which is aimed at the independent cultural sector, Level, which has an international focus, and Botildenborg, a food incubator for small-scale food artisans.
Choosing Malmö is easy, says Victoria. "The quality of life is high, it's cheap to eat and live, easy to meet new friends and to get around as you can cycle everywhere. In addition, there is a rich cultural life and a vibrant food scene with international influences - from cozy eateries around Möllevångstorget to renowned restaurants such as Vollmers, Restaurant Que and Brasserie Sture, and Atmosfär.
"What I like most about living in Malmö, it’s the fact it is so close to the rest of the continent. You can easily hop on the train to Amsterdam or Berlin to buy goods or get inspiration for the store and the clothing brand."
