Housing

Boplats Syd is a housing association that can provide people with homes in Malmö. You will have to join a queue before receiving an apartment.

Boplats Syd rents out apartments to people who have been waiting the longest, and there is no way of jumping the queue. The longer you have been registered in the queue, the greater chance you will have of being offered a home.

You can register to join the queue on Boplats Syd's website or at their office. There is a charge of SEK 300 per year to retain your place in the queue. You can register to join the queue with Boplats Syd before you have received your personal identity number.

You can also try to find somewhere to live by contacting private property owners directly. They will often have their own rules for renting and their own queueing system.

Housing advice (Bostadsrådgivningen)

Bostadsrådgivningen can provide you with information, advice and guidance regarding looking for somewhere to live. They can teach you how to look, as well as about the rules that apply when renting an apartment.

They provide support, advice and information, both individually and in groups.

Bostadsrådgivningen is not a housing agency, so they cannot provide you with an apartment. Neither can they provide legal advice. There is no charge for using the service.

Do you already have login details for housing associations and landlords? If so, it is helpful to bring these when visiting Bostadsrådgivningen.

Housing allowance and Introduction benefit for housing

Housing allowance is to help people who find it difficult to pay their rent.

Introduction benefit for housing is for those who are registered with an introduction programme, who live alone in their own home, and who need help to pay their rent or monthly housing fee.

You can apply to receive the housing allowance or introduction benefit for housing at the Social Insurance Agency (Försäkringskassan).
