The Municipal Økonomiudvalget in Copenhagen meet with Malmö once a year to discuss common issues of the future. On the official level there are regular meetings taking place between municipal leaders at the city office and the budgetary and financial management. In Malmö's various departments there are established contacts with the corresponding officials in Copenhagen and a number of joint cooperation projects are carried out.

EU support:
Cooperation projects have often been implemented in conjunction with other local and regional stakeholders, with the support of the European Structural Funds (Interreg funds). Currently, there are numerous of projects taking place such as school exchanges on sustainable development (classroom Oresund), border regional statistics (Örestat III), methods for sustainable urban development (Urban Transition) and joint Øresund cycle region. Another current project is the Partnership for growth in which we develop our joint marketing efforts to attract more investment and business creation in the region (
